We played The Holly Tree in Addlestone and had such a great time. Luckily, friend of the band Chloe was filming and caught Setting Fire and Give Me a Reason! Hope you enjoy.

We are sad to announce the departure of rhythm guitarist Greg Smith. Both parties have parted ways due to mutual agreement and amicably.
Greg has been a real character in SOTS but has new avenues to pursue, he’s been working on a few side projects for the past few months and has decided now is the time to devote all of himself to these projects. As soon as they’re announced, we’ll be among the first to let you all know about them!Greg said “I have had an awesome time with you guys, thank you all for being so awesome. I wish you the best of luck for the future and I look forward to seeing you guys play and hearing the new tunes.”
We would love to take this opportunity to thank Greg for the time he’s spent playing guitar and dancing while asking people to “touch my pants.” We wish him all the best in his future projects.
Don’t worry though; the four of us will continue bringing awesomeness to you. Nothing has changed with us on a personal level; we all remain good friends.
Best of luck and much love to you Greg! xxXxx
So Dub Aid 2 went down a complete storm. The weather wasn’t too bad, and the show was a great social occasion whilst raising cash for charity! Our part was to go on stage and play an hour’s worth of music. We played mostly covers but threw in ‘Give Me a Reason’, ‘The Tides’, ‘Fight For You’ and ‘Best I Could’. We enjoyed every moment of it and had a great crowd supporting us and cheering us on. More next year? We’ll see … watch this space! Ahhh, life is good for Spirit of the State!
Spirit of the State are scheduled to play the Farnborough Fake Festival on the 21st July 2012. An amazing day with some of the hottest unsigned talent as well as three top tier tribute acts (This year The Fillers (The Killers), Oasish (Oasis) and Basketcase (Green Day)), the day couldn’t get any better. Family atmosphere with events for everyone, and a well stocked and well priced bar! Come down, have a beer and enjoy the summer. Buy early bird tickets here.
Spirit of the State are playing Dub Aid on the 31st March, 2012. We’ll be on the stage at 6:30pm on the Saturday evening and will be playing for a scheduled hour. We’re looking forward to the gig and we hope you’ll support the charitable show if you’re a Volkswagen fan! Dub Aid is in it’s second year and supports charities. This year the support goes to The RNLI. Get over and check them out, and make a donation. Then get on over to dubaid.co.uk and buy your tickets to the show!
We’re in the process of writing and recording new music, but for your listening pleasure, check out the demo to ‘Best I Could’, our popular closing tune of the night. Click the play button below!

Spirit of the State formed in 2007 as a writing project between Will and Dave Clements, two brothers who argue more than the Gallagher’s, but both have the same goal… to make great music and put on fun shows. The band has had an up and down start but over the years has played a fair number of shows, supporting the likes of The Dirty Youth and Skindred. 2012 holds a new set of adventures for the band with festival dates coming up and new songs being recorded.
